Friday, October 6th, 1995 10:30am Dear God, I am writing to you this morning from Carfax's venerable PC102 Compuadd model 450 DX2, a 486 PC computer. It is overcast outside as I sit in the computer room in the Computer Room listening to the line printer idling and the UPS humming and the hum of the VAX 4000 computer equipment behind me to the left. It is also a bit overcast inside as well. There was a 9:30am conference call that I was asked to participate in which has me vaguely uneasy. I have heard of and read of various corporate maneuvers before, many of which seem to me to be pursued for the sake of the allmighty buck, and for no other particular other sake than for that. Our friend Carol Clark experienced just such a thing herself when Orscheln was purchased (I think in toto) by a some other company that had their own ac- counting systems set up. The result seemed to be that there was a summary firing of many (if not most) accounting department employees within Orscheln, including herself.
