Hill" Subject: Does anyone know how ... 1) to counsel others not to take stock of their fears regarding onesself? 2) to know that giving such counsel would be the best for them or for onesself? 3) to let fear of others or of relating to others in roles that one is not accustomed to ... be allayed? My online AKJV Bible indicates 189 instances of the word "afraid" and 385 instances of the word "fear." Regarding the points above, stated differently: 1) How do you tell others? "Please don't be afraid of me; I'm not meant to be afraid of." 2) How do I know in my heart? that trying to convince others who fear or dislike me to not fear, dislike, or avoid me-- How do I know convincing others not to fear me is the best thing for them, rather than just being the best thing for my ego? How do I know in my heart? that trying to change others' fear or dislike of me is appropriate use of my energies? How do I know that others do not ENJOY fearing or hating somebody ... and for me to change that in them would not take away the only joy they know? --- --- --- My Bible says Moses counseled his people, "Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." (Deut. 31:3) Then it tells me that Joshua counseled, perhaps following Moses' example: "Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD they God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest." (Joshua 1:9) It also tells me that "Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul." (1 Samuel 18:12) 3) How can I lead others in project(s) when fear of failure vastly overruns anticipation of success? "Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet." (Job 18:11) "... Surely such [are] the dwellings of the wicked, and this [is] the place [of him that] knoweth not God." (Job 18:21). -David
