About the LDP Pages

These pages were probably some of the first Linux-related pages on the Net when Matt Welsh started them in 1994. Thus they became, and still are, a popular place for beginning and experienced Linux users to find information. I took over the LDP pages from Matt in March 1996, and hope to make them one of the best places to find Linux information world-wide.

This site is here to serve as a home for the Linux Documentation Project (LDP) first and foremost. But, over time a tremendous amount of information has accumulated here, making these very pages an important part of the LDP itself. Now, they are mirrored around the world in over 40 countries.

The LDP pages are written in HTML 3.2 (Wilbur), and are verified using A Kinder, Gentler Validator. I have also tried to make these pages non-browser-specific and as friendly as possible for text-only browsers in participation with the Campaign for a Non Browser Specific WWW.
