Configuring Advanced Connection Characteristics

To configure advanced connection options for a net service name:

  1. Double-click on the Net Service Names folder in the directory tree or choose Open Network Configuration from the File menu. You may either browse or enter the name of the TNSNAMES.ORA file, which stores the net service names.

  2. Click on an existing Net Service Name file in the Net Service Names folder in the left hand side screen.

  3. Click Advanced in the Service Identification group window.

  4. Select the options and enter information in the fields as appropriate. See Advanced Options dialog box for a description of advanced options.

  5. Choose Save Network Configuration from the File menu to save changes to TNSNAMES.ORA in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin on UNIX or ORACLE_HOME\network\admin on Windows platforms, or choose Save As from the File menu to save under a different file name or path.
