A profile is a collection of parameters that specifies preferences for enabling and configuring Net8 features on the client or server. A profile is stored and implemented through a configuration file called SQLNET.ORA, located at $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin on UNIX and ORACLE_ HOME\network\admin on Windows platforms. Use the Net8 Assistant’s Profile icon to modify a profile and:

• Prioritize naming methods

• Enable tracing and logging features

• Route connections through specific processes

• Configure the Oracle Advanced Security Option

1. Click on the Profile icon.

2. Use the pull down menu on the right hand side screen to select from a list of available preferences that you may configure.
